Effective Online Therapy for Anxiety and Depression via Skype

Transcript

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong, and I am a professional online therapist. I offer online therapy via Skype as an effective alternative treatment for anxiety, for depression and also as an alternative treatment for addictions.

So, what makes effective online therapy? Well, I would say the most important thing that you should be looking for is a therapist who is going to help you change the underlying cause of your anxiety, depression or addiction. It's just not enough to just talk about your emotions or problems. That doesn't address the underlying cause. It may make you feel better for a while, but is doesn't change the underlying cause of your anxiety, depression or addictions. The same with medications. Medications are good for treating the symptoms of anxiety or depression, but they don't change the underlying cause of your anxiety or depression. So, effective online therapy is one that is going to address this, it's going to help you change the underlying cause of your emotional suffering.

The style of therapy that I offer online is called Mindfulness Therapy, which is one of many processes of therapy that are available online to help you. I find this particular style of therapy to be very effective, indeed, for treating anxiety and depression, particularly, because it really does help you change those habits of reactive thinking and it helps you break free from that spiral into the emotion, into negative thinking and beliefs that keep us trapped.

Mindfulness Therapy is also very good for working with trauma and very difficult memories. It's the same process involved, that is learning to be able to be present with these emotions and thoughts without becoming overwhelmed by them. Learning this process of becoming independent from your  thoughts and emotions is one of the hallmarks of Mindfulness Therapy.

And, also Mindfulness Therapy is about helping you heal the underlying emotion itself through building this mindfulness-based relationship with the emotion, instead of just feeding it with more and more reactivity.
