Skype-based therapy

Skype-based therapy for anxiety and depression

I offer Skype-based therapy as an alternative to office-based sessions because most of my clients actually prefer therapy over Skype - it is much less intimidating and much more convenient too since you don't have to leave home. For people living abroad, Skype therapy is an excellent way of getting help for anxiety or depression. I also work with people who cannot leave home for one reason or another; a good number of my clients suffer from social anxiety disorder or agoraphobia for example.

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong, and I am a professional therapist available online. I offer online psychotherapy via Skype as an alternative to normal office sessions.

Another real advantage of Skype Therapy is it is much more comfortable for you personally, the customer; much less intimidating. Is among empowering you, is among teaching you the way to work in a constructive and positive way, using the the quite practical and productive processes of Mindfulness Therapy with your emotions.

Really, what we're most concerned with doing is helping you shift your relationship to your own emotions. Most people live in fear of our panic attacks, our anxiety, our depression or our compulsion, of our mental suffering if it is an addiction you're addressing. We try and avert them or we react with self criticism, tremendous aversion and self-loathing. Aversion and avoidance are your worst enemies. Your worst enemies only fuel the inherent process of mental suffering and stop change. It really is feasible to change anxiety and depression or habit, but you must first develop a mindful and friendly relationship with your emotions, and that is maybe one of the hallmarks of Mindfulness Therapy.

They start to change when you have the appropriate relationship with your emotions then. You effectively create the right internal psychological states that permit them to change. Therefore, it is what we call establishing Right Relationship and this is a very, very important basis in Mindfulness Therapy.

One other thing that people research during our therapy sessions that are online would be to investigate the specific structure of your emotions; how they really work. This is quite different than standard "talk therapy." We are not talking about emotions, we are in fact investigating your worst enemies to find out how they work. And this is where we come into the area of what is called Emotional Imagery, because its the way you see thoughts and your emotions in the mind how powerful or overwhelming those emotions are and that determines how intense your worst enemies are. It's how you see them, the way you envision those ideas and emotions in the mind, and of course most of us are not aware of that, but mindfulness is all about inquiring the particular arrangement of your emotions and creating consciousness and awareness.

Now, the general rule here is the more you see the more you look. The more you explore the picture construction of your emotions the more detail you'll find. This starts to gave you choice since you'll be able to change that vision, so when you alter the mental imagery, the emotion itself begins to change. So, that's a second theme that people develop during online Skype therapy sessions. We take a look at the construction of your emotions, we look at the vision and we begin to explore making changes because vision that leads to depression or anxiety or compulsion to a decrease.
